Advancing Child Health and Learning through Community-based Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP)

admin, January 31, 2024May 15, 2024

The Reina Federation runs Supervised Neighborhood Play (SNP) activities in communities across Quezon province. SNP provides structured play-based learning for children ages 3-4 who are not enrolled in daycare.

Here is an overview of how SNP works:

Activities are facilitated by trained volunteers, from the community.

  • They guide small groups of around 10-15 children.
  • Children participate in 1-hour sessions 3 times a week.
  • The activities take place right within their neighborhood, often using available spaces like barangay halls.
  • The sessions involve games, songs, storytelling, and hands-on learning focused on building foundational skills in areas like numeracy, literacy, motor skills, and socio-emotional development.
  • Parents and families are also engaged through parenting sessions to foster early learning at home.
  • Learning materials like books, toys, and visual aids are provided to create an engaging and nurturing environment for the children’s development.

Through accessible play-driven activities, SNP stimulates growth, knowledge, and school-readiness among young children not in daycare. We are committed to continuing and expanding this program across more barangays.

A young girl proudly demonstrates what she has learned about on our SNP sessions. Great job!
