Reina Federation working with ChildFund Philippines for Policy Review and Program Quality Reflection

admin, April 30, 2024May 7, 2024

In a collaborative effort to enhance child protection measures and foster continuous improvement, Reina Federation joined forces with DepEd Division Office of Quezon for a two-day event focused on reviewing and updating school policies and conducting a Program Quality Reflection.

Held on April 26-27, 2024, at Nawawalang Paraiso, Tavabas City, Quezon, this initiative brought together principals, Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) members, teachers, and resource persons from the Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD), underscoring the importance of a concerted approach to safeguarding children and school personnel.

The policy review component aimed to adapt and align existing policies with Republic Act 10821, DepEd Order 40, the Anti-Bullying Act, and Republic Act 11313. These policies play a crucial role in ensuring a safe and nurturing learning environment, free from discrimination, harassment, and any form of abuse.

Spearheading the event were Carmela S. Dator, Program Officer, SAFE to Learn, and Daven P. Astejada, Federation Manager, who facilitated discussions and guided participants through the review and update process.

Esteemed resource persons included Paul Clifford Marquez, Senior Education Program Specialist, Calixto S. Blazo, Principal IV, Jefferson Prudente, Teacher III SDRRM Focal, INHS, and Municipal Councilor Maica Avellaneda, Chairperson of Committee on Education, who shared their valuable insights and expertise.

Alongside the policy review, the Program Quality Reflection provided an opportunity for participants to engage in a comprehensive assessment of program data, principles, results, and quality. This process allowed for meaningful reflection, strategic decision-making, and forward planning to continually enhance the effectiveness and impact of Reina Federation’s initiatives.

Reina Federation believes that regular reviews and updates to school policies and continuous program evaluations are essential to address evolving threats and challenges, and to foster a culture of continuous improvement within the educational system.

Through this partnership, Reina Federation and ChildFund Philippines reaffirm their commitment to championing child protection, promoting inclusive education, and driving positive change in communities across the region.
